A meat thermometer will help determine whether the turkey meat is completely done: if the temperature inside the turkey thigh is 76 degrees, it can be removed from the oven. Before you start cutting up the bird, you need to keep it on a plate for 20 minutes.

Classic American dishes like baked turkey have an interesting presentation and often come with cranberry sauce and pecan cornbread stuffing. To prepare it, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Corn bread - 1 kg.
  • Pecans - 200 g.
  • Bacon - 6 slices.
  • Onions - 3 pieces.
  • Shallots - 3 pieces.
  • Celery - 2 stalks.
  • Chicken broth - 2 cups.
  • Chicken eggs - 3 pieces.
  • Butter - 80 g.
  • Thyme (dried) - 15 g.
  • Sage (dried) - 20 g.
  • Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Table salt - 1 teaspoon.

Cut into small pieces and leave on the table overnight, uncovered, to dry.

  • Tabasco sauce - 1 teaspoon.
  • Soy sauce - 50 ml.

Preparation:

  1. The first step is to make the barbecue sauce. To do this, mix Worcestershire, soy and Tabasco sauce, add honey, juice of 2 lemons, crushed garlic crushed with salt. The prepared marinade is heated in a water bath to a temperature of 45 degrees.
  2. Cut the ribs into 3-4 pieces and completely immerse them in the marinade for 12 hours, keeping the temperature at +5 to +10 degrees.
  3. After the ribs have been marinated, you need to preheat the oven to 220 degrees. Remove the ribs from the marinade and place on a grill pan, pour over the remaining marinade and place in the oven for 25 minutes. Then reduce the thermostat to 180 degrees and continue baking for another 20 minutes.

The finished dish has a dark caramel crust, and the seeds usually turn almost black. They are very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside.

The most beloved American cuisine dishes by US residents (photo below) include Buffalo chicken wings on their list. The city of Buffalo is considered the birthplace of this recipe.

To prepare spicy chicken wings, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Chicken wings - 10 pieces.
  • Any sauce (spicy) - 65 g.
  • Butter - 50 g.
  • Ground spices (paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, black pepper) - 5 g each.
  • Premium wheat flour - 150 g.
  • Iodized salt - 15 g.
  • Sunflower oil - 250 ml.

Cooking method:

  1. Wash the chicken wings and cut them into pieces at the joints.
  2. In a deep bowl, prepare a mixture of flour, cayenne pepper, paprika and salt. Roll the wings in this mixture and place them in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  3. In a saucepan, bring vegetable oil to a boil and fry the chicken wings for 10 minutes until light brown. Drain each batch of wings on paper towels to remove excess oil.

This spicy American chili dish is of Mexican origin. It is especially loved by residents of Texas. The name of the dish translated from Spanish means “chili with meat.” The main component of this spicy second dish is chili pepper. To prepare chili with meat, you will need the following products:

  • Minced beef -600 g.
  • Onion - 1 piece.
  • Beef broth - 450 ml.
  • Red sweet pepper - 2 pieces.
  • Chili pepper - 1 piece.
  • Canned beans (red) - 2 cans of 200 g each.
  • Canned tomatoes - 350 g.
  • Ground spices (chili, allspice, cumin, paprika) - 5 g each.
  • Marjoram – 3 g.
  • Granulated sugar - 10 g.
  • Table salt - 20 g.
  • Sunflower oil - 0.1 liters.
  • Tomato paste - 20 g.

Cooking process:

  1. All vegetables need to be cut into cubes, and the garlic should be squeezed through a garlic press.
  2. Fry the onion in a saucepan with vegetable oil until tender.
  3. Add chopped peppers, garlic, ground chili and paprika to the onions and fry for 5 minutes over low heat.
  4. Increase the heat on the stove to high, place the ground beef in a saucepan and fry until cooked, stirring constantly so that the mass remains homogeneous and without lumps.
  5. Pour in the beef broth, add the chopped tomatoes, add tomato paste, sugar, black pepper, marjoram and salt.
  6. Rinse the canned beans under the tap to remove excess salt and add to the saucepan with the meat and vegetables, simmer for another 10 minutes over low heat and you get chili.

What do you need for a burger?

  • Beef tenderloin - 1 kg.
  • Beef fat—250 g.
  • Table salt - 2 dessert spoons.
  • Onion - 1 large root vegetable.
  • Ground black pepper - 1.5 teaspoons.
  • Sunflower oil - 0.1 liters.
  • Butter - 3 dessert spoons.
  • Burger buns - 6 pieces.
  • Pickled cucumbers - 3 pieces.
  • Tomato - 1 large fruit.
  • Lettuce leaves - 6 pieces.
  • Red onion - 1 root vegetable.
  • Table mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise - to taste.

Cooking algorithm:

  1. Finely chop the peeled and washed onion. Simmer the onion in vegetable oil for 5 minutes and leave to cool.
  2. Grind the meat and fat using a food processor, add the cooled onion, a tablespoon of salt and pepper. Mix the resulting minced meat thoroughly.
  3. Using wet hands, cut the minced meat into 6 round cutlets, 2.5 cm thick. Place the cutlets in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  4. During this time, cut the red onion into rings, tomatoes and cucumbers into thin slices. Divide each bun into 2 halves and grease the inside with butter.
  5. Light the coals in the grill, grease the grate with oil and arrange the cutlets, fry, turning every 2 minutes, until cooked. Fry the inside of the buns for 10 seconds, making sure they don’t burn.
  6. Assemble the burger from the prepared ingredients: place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of the bun, then a cutlet, onion rings, a tomato slice, cucumber slices and cover with the top half of the bun, greased with mayonnaise, ketchup or mustard.

Many names of American dishes, which are a type of burger, are unfamiliar outside the United States. Their main difference is in the filling:

  • Cheeseburger - definitely includes cheese.
  • Wedgeburger is vegetarian and does not contain meat.
  • Tofuburger - tofu replaces the meat filling.
  • Eggburger - egg is used instead of meat.

American apple pie

American dishes cannot be imagined without numerous pastries and desserts. The most favorite sweet dishes are the famous apple pie, New York cheesecake, chocolate brownies, banana split - a dessert based on ice cream, and cookies with chocolate chips.

Recipes for pies with apple filling are available in many cuisines, but only in the United States has this dessert become as popular as other traditional American dishes. Apple pie is one of the symbols of American cuisine.

So, to prepare a real apple pie you will need the following ingredients:

  • Apples - 1 kg.
  • Brown sugar - 230 g.
  • Premium grade wheat flour - 400 g.
  • Butter - 225 g.
  • Ground cinnamon - 15 g.
  • Chicken eggs - 2 pieces.

Cooking method:

  1. First you need to mix half the available sugar and melted butter, and then beat with a whisk or food processor.
  2. Add 1 egg and the yolk of another egg to the resulting mixture, beat the mixture for 1 minute. Add 350 g of flour and knead the dough, then wrap it in a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator to cool for 40 minutes.
  3. Prepare the filling: peel the washed apples, cut out the core and remove the seeds, cut into thin slices. Sprinkle apples with a mixture of flour (50 g), granulated sugar (150 g) and cinnamon.
  4. Turn on the oven and set the temperature to 180 degrees. While it is heating up, you need to roll out 1/3 of the dough and place it on a greased pan, not forgetting the sides. Place the prepared filling on the rolled out dough, cover with the rest of the dough and pinch the edges. Prick the pie with a fork or knife so that steam escapes and the dough does not swell. If there are scraps of dough left over, you can decorate the pie with them.
  5. Coat the top of the apple pie with the remaining egg white, sprinkle with powdered sugar and bake in the oven for 40 minutes until an appetizing crust appears. Remove the baked pie from the oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes.

Cut the apple pie into portions and serve with tea.

American pancakes

It’s hard to imagine popular American dishes without pancakes, the so-called round fluffy pancakes. Many Americans include them in their breakfast and usually eat at least 6 of them, topped with maple syrup, jam or chocolate butter.

Pancakes, unlike regular pancakes, have a porous structure due to prolonged beating of the proteins. When preparing pancake dough, you can add any fruit puree, such as banana. If you add cocoa to the dough, you get chocolate pancakes.

Ingredients for making pancakes:

  • Premium wheat flour - 255 g.
  • Chicken eggs - 4 pieces.
  • Milk - 235 ml.
  • Iodized salt - 4 g.
  • Sugar - 30 g.
  • Ground cinnamon - 5 g.
  • Slaked soda - 6 g.

Preparation steps:

  1. Separate the yolks from the whites, which need to be put in the refrigerator for now. In a deep bowl, grind the yolks, sugar and cinnamon until smooth.
  2. Pour a glass of milk into the bowl with the yolks, then lightly whisk the resulting mixture.
  3. Pour the sifted flour into a bowl with the egg-milk liquid, continuing to whisk the resulting mass. Add slaked soda here and mix the contents of the bowl thoroughly.
  4. Using a whisk, whisk the resulting dough until smooth, avoiding the formation of lumps. The resulting mass should be thick.
  5. Remove the chilled egg whites from the refrigerator, add salt and beat until stiff with a mixer for 1 minute.
  6. Carefully fold the whipped egg white mixture into the dough and mix with a wooden spatula.
  7. Heat a non-stick frying pan and melt a teaspoon of butter.
  8. Place a small ladle of pancakes on a preheated non-stick frying pan and bake for 2 minutes on each side. Transfer the finished pancakes to a plate and continue baking the next portion. By the way, the frying pan no longer needs to be greased with oil, since the pancakes should not be greasy, and then they are baked in a dry frying pan.

Pour the finished pancakes with syrup, jam or butter to your liking.
